Acceuil chaleureux. Une Belle et très grande maison propre nous on etaient à 4 personnes mais peut accueillir plus. Endroit calme et reposant. Tres grande piscine.

Maison top avec un très bon accueil une vue superbe sur la campagne petit accueil avec feu de cheminée !!!! Point de chute pour le boulot le top je reviendrais.

We stayed here with our family in August and to be fair it’s a nice gite with a lovely pool in a beautiful part of France. However the owners live on site and are very particular about how the rules they set should be followed. These included not using the pool if you’ve just put suntan lotion on, closing doors quietly and switching light off. I was ‘told off’ one morning because my son left a stone on the grass from a game he was playing apparently because the lawn mower might at some point throw it through a window. Probably the final straw for us is before we left we cleaned the place from top to bottom leaving it in better condition than when we arrived but got a 1 star review for cleanliness apparently because we didn’t empty the clean dishes out of the dishwasher (we had a 13 hour drive home so put our breakfast dishes in there and switched it on before we left early) and we didn’t clean the windows. I think the owners run it as a b and b at other times of the year so I guess you’d expect them to be around for that but if you want a peaceful private place to relax on your own I’d stay else where.

We stayed with Richard & Mel for four nights (longer would have been better!) in their lovely Charentaise longere. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a light and airy ensuite bathroom. Breakfast was copious and the evening meals were excellent, always preceeded by sampling some of Richards home brews. The gardens are quiet, large and with things to do (plus Guinea Pigs to watch), along with the lovely salt water pool and a hammock or five to laze away an hour or two. The location itself is peaceful and close to Sauze to for supplies from the Super U (easy walking distance). The dark skies were amazing and a treat to see the milky way, so overall, a thoroughly recommended place to stay and for us (next time) a stay in their lovely Gite. Thanks again Richard & Mel (who were also great company for the evening meals).

Fantastic place run by two lovely people. Melanie and Richard are super hosts who can't do enough to make you feel welcome. The well maintained gardens with their free range chickens and guinea pigs are a peaceful haven. The fantastic swimming pool is great to relax in or around. All of the rooms are warm and welcoming, spotlessly clean, with lots of homely touches. Melanie's home made meals, jams and chutneys are superb. Can't wait to stay again!

I stayed here in the latter half of August 2019 with extended family. We had taken the entire property for two weeks so had exclusive use of the pool and facilities. Excellent accommodation in sympathetically restored buildings. Our grandchildren in particular loved being able to use the extensive grounds and everyone enjoyed the large well maintained pool. This area has lots of wildlife from deer ambling through the gardens at dusk to dormice scampering and birds of prey wheeling on the thermals above the fields. The owners Richard and Mel live nearby and are an invaluable source of local knowledge. I would recommend Le Chatenet to everyone.We had a very enjoyable time here and would love to return.

As a big party of 11 we had both the gites on site. Both were lovely and the pool was superb. Mel and Richard (the owners) were lovely friendly people with lots of info. As the weather was really hot most days we stayed on site lounging under the shade of the trees with chickens and guinea pigs for company. Great fun in the pool and didn't have to worry about any noise we made. Plenty of loungers, chairs and tables for eating al fresco (didn't eat any meals inside!). Excellent kitchen and plenty of bathrooms (some ensuite). Although felt like we were in the middle of nowhere the local supermarket and village were only a few minutes away in the car. Best of both worlds Would love to return again one day.
