Avoid Pinnacle Assurance at All Costs!
I’ve had the absolute worst experience with Pinnacle Assurance and would never recommend their services to anyone. Their policies are intentionally confusing and completely unclear, leaving you to wade through fine print and vague explanations with no real support.

To make matters worse, they randomly pull money from your bank account without authorization or even a single invoice. It’s unacceptable and feels completely unprofessional. How are customers supposed to trust an insurance company that operates like this?

If you value transparency, clear communication, and ethical business practices, stay far away from Pinnacle Assurance. Save yourself the headache and look elsewhere for insurance coverage.

I have had pinacol assurance for years. I pay them more than I pay myself for running a company and working 80+ hours a week. This spring I closed the business and canceled my insurance. they even sent me a refund check.

Two months later I received a summons to go to court because they claim I have an outstanding bill for $1000 that is not $1750 with fees. This is just the final straw with what I believe to be a shady company

other things include:
1 - Promising to file my paperwork with the state to get me a discount, I did all the work on my end and it never got filed and they never provided me the discount

2 - paying off a sub contractor to get him to go away and then increasing my rate saying that I caused the injury, but they just paid him off and then billed me instead of fighting it.

3 - my EMR rating was .89, but they billed me as if it was 1.87 when I asked they said the emr rating was wrong and I had to pay the higher amount

4 - we had one minor issue that required stiches. The doctor sucked and had to redo it 3 times which caused a loss work claim and $40,000 bill. A competent urgent care doctor could have fixed it for $400. I told pinacol and they did not have my back. they paid the bill and then billed me for it.

They are a shady company I would stay far away from them

This company has terrible customer service from start to finish. We had signed waivers from independent contractors waiving their workers comp. We provided that to Pinnacol and they told us to pretty much kick rocks and we had to pay. That did not happen the year prior and did not let us know their policy had apparently changed. Wish we would have known before they hit us with an 81k bill.

Im 90 percent sure I heard Nichole Jude chewing food on the other line as she told me they weren't going to cover my shoulder injury today. I can't say that I'm positive, but 90 %. She was awful aside from that, but stereotypical insurance person awful. Not really a unique experience that way. But the food part was craaaaazy. But again I can't say for a fact that she was. It really did sound like it though.

Every interaction with Pinnacol has been 5 stars. I don't know how they're able to recruit, train and retain such knowledgeable, caring employees, but Pinnacol is certainly doing something right. In my four years of experience with them, NOT ONCE have I had to deal with someone who didn't know their stuff and were genuinely enjoyable to work with. Kudos to Pinnacol and a big KUDOS to Pinnacol team!! Keep up the good work!! You're the best!

Would give 0 if I could. Offer worker's comp coverage but you have to threaten legal action to get them to pay the claims. I've been working with them as a provider and I can tell you if you ever need this insurance they won't actually pay for the care that you need. Find a better company.

EASY to sign up - HARD to cancel. You may want to avoid using this place.
I signed up for workers comp insurance when I got a short stint doing trade work. It was a yearly contract with payments every quarter. I said I just needed a month or two - they told me "no worries" just cancel when your ready and get pro-rated refund. I did this but they kept auto-transferring my quarterly payment. I've been trying to get my refund for 3 months now. They want forms and more forms filled out and of course it's the underwriter requirements or something that is out of their (and my) control. I'll update if I ever get my money back or if it continues to be another request for info.

- A response after now waiting 3 months...: "sorry for the confusion. Let me follow up with our audit team and get back to you on the final audit".

- 6 weeks later. No follow up. I may have to call in their office for any action on this.

- ABout a month after that last post, I called and finally got the account person who needed to "fix it". He was very apologetic and got my refund sorted in a couple days. Apparently it was I who had not done the form submittal properly. So I have probably spent as much time chasing this down as what my refund is worth. At least they didn't disappear completely and I'm not sure at all if another agency would have been a similar experience. I thought I had better at least let any review observers know I got my refund and changed my review to a 2-star. Best luck out there!

Pinnacol Assurance is a workers' compensation insurance with great customer service. Their staff is very easy to work with. Quick to understand what is needed to cover our employees. The cost is very manageable for our small business. When we added new employees the price was very economical for us. Pinnacol Assurance can meet any company’s needs for Worker’s Compensation Insurance.
